A more original idea is to position the bed in the center of the rectangular room to get the most of the space developed in length.
A "trick" to make a small bedroom appear larger is to use uniform colors for the walls and furnishings. This does not mean using identical colors for everything but adopting a consistent chromatic scale, avoiding risky combinations.
