China Red Antique Chest Handpainted Florals

This Oriental wooden trunk is vintage and about 60 to 80 years old. The original finish and painting have been enhanced with a French lacquer polish that elevates the original Chinese red with a crackle finish and hand painted still life painting. The aged iron handles, hinges, and lock plate are original. The front is hand painted with a beautiful contrasting yellow ocher color, a floral vase, and a scholar scroll. The back, sides and top are finished in layers of aged red lacquer. The overall painting is aged and slightly distressed. The inside works ideally to store blankets or toys. This Chinese Antique Storage Box would make a stunning coffee table in a small room. Use this underneath a sofa table or on top of an armoire or tall chest. It is an excellent addition to your home.
