This collectible Antique desk is handmade of fine grained solid Elmwood. The desktop is one large rare panel of wood with beautiful grain. The top came from a large tree, something scarce in this day and age. Another feature is hand carved beveled panels on the drawers and the cabinet frames that add elegance to this simple Ming design. The finish is hand applied lacquer with a satin shine that enhances the natural wood color. Elmwood is a hardwood used for furniture making in much of Asia and collected for its beauty. This Chinese antique is 80-120 years old and is in excellent condition. It is made using floating panel construction and tongue and groove construction. Due to age, the top wooded panel has moved slightly, as expected. This desk comes in three parts: two cabinets and a desktop that fit into one another in assembly. The cabinets have geometric lattice carved shelves with storage drawers. The hardware is the original brass, but the locks' keys are missing and lost in time. The brass handles are a simple shape design. Use at home as an office desk or in your study. It is Entirely handmade with classic Chinese wood craftsmanship and is the perfect addition to your den or office. It comes with six drawers that open and close with ease.
