Rare Chinese ceremonial double sided coromandel lacquered drum with a drum rack has leather heads on two sides and trimmed with decorative brass nail heads. Masterly hand painted and engraved in gold, green, black and peach colors on a Cantonese brick red background. The matching collapsable dragon head wooden stand is also finely detailed. The drum hangs by four brass rings off the drum rack. The drumsticks are painted in a matching pattern and hang off the rack when unused. This collectible is rare and a vintage item found and restored in China. The age is 50 to 70 years old, and the technique of carved coromandel is a lost art. The drum is removable from the stand, and the drum head can be tuned with heating and used as a musical instrument, or it makes an attractive decorative accent in any home.
