Satsuma Painted Peacock Planter

Our 14" diameter planter is also called a fishbowl . They are also called jardinière as they can be used indoors or outdoors. We suggest in freezing environment to bring such porcelains indoors so that any water or soil expansion does not damage the pot. These planters are painted with a floral border and painted panels with peacocks and lady panels in a natural floral setting. This porcelain is imported from China but this style of design is of Japanese origins. Satsuma is gilded and depicts natural environs or palace scenes and most popular in the 19th century. Deep rich colors adorn this water tight vessel that can be used on the floor or on a table top. We suggest a wooden stand to enhance its beauty and also can be used as a end table by adding a glass top.
